Week 4 Supermarket Vocabulary Words With Sentences

Hope you are enjoying your trips to the supermarket.  This week we will continue with last week's vocabulary words.  

What I like about the produce section is all the wonderful colors of the fruits and vegetables that are displayed.  It makes me feel welcomed and always want to pick the best fruits for a delicious fruit salad.

What do you like about the grocery store? Or do you just like to go in and out? I bet it’s not a walk in the park for you.  Below you will find sentences to last week’s vocabulary words.

Coupon - noun - a voucher entitling the holder to a discount off a particular product. I have a notebook full of coupons to help with my savings.  

Change - noun - coins as opposed to banknotes. The cashier asked me to give her the exact change.  

Sales tax - noun - a tax on sales or the receipts from sales. The sales tax are the same as last year.

Purchase - noun - acquire (something) by paying for it; buy. I purchased a case of orange juice for the party.

Delivery - noun - the action of delivering letters, parcels, or goods. I asked the clerk if they have a delivery program in place.

Receipt - noun - the action of receiving something or the fact of its being received. After paying the cashier, she gave me a receipt.

Customer - noun - a person who buys goods or services from a shop or business. I am a well-known customer at my grocery store.

Supervisor - noun - a person who supervises a person or activity. I asked the supervisor to speak to a manager.  

Manager - noun - a person responsible for controlling or administering an organization or group of staff.  The manager came to help me with my groceries.  

Barcode - noun- a machine-readable code in the form of numbers and a pattern of parallel lines of varying widths, printed on a commodity and used especially for stock control.  I grabbed bread that was missing the barcode.
