Most Common Words Used In The Workplace Week 2

Another great week, let’s dive right in.  How did you do with last week's vocabulary words?  This week we will continue with the same words using them in a sentence.

Repetition is key.  I learned in school, at work and personally that the best way to learn is to practice and to repeat.  That is why I have chosen to repeat the same vocabulary words minimum two weeks in a row.
The objective is to keep you engaged and help you with your practice.  Feel free to make up your sentences and practice the ones that I shared.

Meeting Room - (noun) room in a building, such as an office building, set aside for the use of people to hold meetings. The scheduled meeting is on May 30th; we will be getting together in the meeting room.

Presentation - (noun) a speech or talk in which a new product, idea, or piece of work is shown and explained to an audience.  "a sales presentation." The team finally finished preparing for the sales presentation.

Colleague - (noun) a person with whom one works in a profession or business.  The clerk wanted to be separated from his noisy colleague.

Handshake - (noun) an act of shaking a person's hand with one's own as a greeting. Everyone thought that Sally’s handshake was not professional.

Whiteboard - (noun) a wipeable board with a white surface used for teaching or presentations. During the presentation, the whiteboard fell on the floor.

Pen - (noun) an instrument for writing or drawing with ink, typically consisting of a metal nib or ball, or a nylon tip, fitted into a metal or plastic holder.  Jim always carries two extra pens in his briefcase.

Flip Chart - (noun) a large pad of paper bound so that each page can be turned over at the top to reveal the next, used on a stand at presentations.  During the meeting, everyone had a chance to go up to the flip chart and share an idea.

Clipboard - (noun) a small board with a spring clip at the top, used for holding papers and providing support for writing.  Sally brought her clipboard to the interview.

Laptop - (noun) a computer that is portable and suitable for use while traveling.  At the conference, I was able to work because I brought my laptop.

Document - (noun) a piece of written, printed, or electronic matter that provides information or evidence or that serves as an official record.  The document specified the terms of the contract.

In summary, at some point in time, we will use all or some of these words.  Keep practicing, and you will improve.  Have a fantastic week.

See you next week,
