Fun At The Beach Vocabulary Words
It’s summertime, let’s go to the beach. I understand that many of you do not like the beach. But, for those that do. Let’s speak English and enjoy a day at the beach.
Living in Miami, Florida allows me to enjoy the warm waters and the hot sun on a summer day.
Do you like going to the beach? Below I will share with you ten vocabulary words to help you while you are at the beach. Have fun and practice with your friends and family.
- Bathing suit - noun a swimming costume.
- Beach ball - noun a large inflatable ball used for playing games on the beach.
- Bikini bɪˈkiːni/- Noun a two-piece swimming costume for women.
- Sunscreen ˈsʌnskriːn/- Noun a cream or lotion rubbed onto the skin to protect it from the sun.
- Swim swɪm/- Verb propel the body through water by using the limbs, or (in the case of a fish or other aquatic animal) by using fins, tail, or other bodily movements.
- Towel ˈtaʊəl/- Noun a piece of thick absorbent cloth or paper used for drying oneself or wiping things dry.
- Beach biːtʃ/- Noun a pebbly or sandy shore, especially by the sea between high- and low-water marks.
- Rip current- noun an intermittent strong surface current flowing seaward from the shore.
- Tan tan/- Noun a yellowish-brown colour.
- Lifeguard ˈlʌɪfɡɑːd/- Noun, an expert swimmer employed to rescue bathers who get into difficulty at a beach or swimming pool.
